Franklin table and chairs

Our Franklin oval table, rectangular table and chairs are made in Holland by a family workshop that has specialised in table and chair making for more than 30 years.

They are very choosy about their wood source - they only buy oak from the Loire valley in France because they love the grain of the oak grown in that area. They buy their wood a couple of years before using it. It is first sawn into planks and air dried in their yard. It then spends many months in a kiln. This reduces the water content of the wood and prevents it from cracking. They are very environmentally conscious and use the waste wood product from the workshop to fuel the kiln.

The top picture shows the oak air drying before it goes into the kiln. The second shot shows the stock of planed oak in the workshop ready to be made into tables.
